A 'bolt-on' system is one of the simplest and most cost effective ways to install a PV array. And, virtually all solar PV systems on existing homes are done this way.
The system comprises of brackets being attached to the batons/rafters (the brackets are designed in accordance to the roof tiles so that they cause no impact to the roof insulation). A frame specifically designed to fit the PV modules is attached to the brackets.
Once the frame is set in place, the PV panels are fitted into the frame to form the required PV array.
