Heat Pumps
We can design and install integrated heat pump/solar thermal systems that ideally use a borehole as the direct heat source. In other cases, surface piped ground source heat pumps can also be specified. Using a borehole, the efficiency rating of the heat pumps we use is 4:1 (4 times the energy output compared to the energy input), and the heat output is up to 70oC. Heat pumps are best used to power under-floor heating - a supplementary heating source will normally be required for traditional radiative heating. Air-water heat pumps are most suitable for urban homes.
Wind Power
With a range of new systems currently available for householders, wind power is fast becoming a serious consideration for micro generation.
Either stand-alone, or as part of a low-carbon energy scheme, wind power is a very reliable and fast way to ensure financial payback in a rural site but are rarely suitable for surburban use. We can design and install systems of up to 6kW. Wind power can be installed in conjuntion with PV cells with both exporting to grid or for giving year round off-grid power.
Biomass
Pellet boilers and room heaters - biomass means anything that has been grown and which can provide energy. We can design in pellet boilers and woodburning stoves to Thermal Stores heating systems to do all of the heating load or in conjunction with gas/oil boilers, Rayburns or Agas.
