Greater capacity & shorter operation
When this type of installation is fitted the existing hot water cylinder is replaced with a cylinder of greater capacity. The existing central heating and/or boiler pipework is reconnected to the upper part of the cylinder with the solar connected to the lower part. Thus the solar sensor located near the cylinder base will be unaffected by any heat generated by existing equipment and any solar gain will rise naturally to the outlet pipework, facilitating shorter boiler operation for domestic hot water and not space heating.
