We have recently helped Batheaston School, Chew Magna Primary School, Riverford Organic visitor centre and Bristol City Council - all of whom have benefited from a 100% grant funding package for their installations. We have also assisted Shepton Mallet Primary School, St Josephs School Portishead and Bathwick St Mary School with photovoltaic and hot water systems on a 50% grant basis.
Solar heating is ideal for school kitchens, hotels, pubs, retirement homes, housing associations and practically anywhere with regular use of hot water.
Solar photovoltaic (PV) is perfect for schools and offices where the daytime power generated is being used at the time of generation. PV is also very often the best possible option for complying with local authority rules on low carbon and renewable energy generation - e.g. the Merton 10% rule - which most LA's are now adopting. This type of micro-legislation insists that 10-30% (depending on each local authority) of energy requirements on new commercial buildings are generated by on-site renewables.
Any organisation, from designers to end-users, can also use renewable energy sources to boost the energy performance of the building to a higher BREEAM - or equivalent - rating.
Having solar - of any type - fitted on a building can assist with green credentials and environmental education. A display can easily be fitted (in a foyer for example) to any electrical system, which will show power generation and Co2 savings accrued. Students can also gain downloads for project work from this type of system.
Please send us your project plans and photos for advice and a quotation.
