Stoke St Gregory Village Hall
Completed: February 2010
The Williams Hall in Stoke St Gregory has installed 10kWp of Sanyo hybrid PV modules with an IG+120 series 3-phase inverter by Fronius.
The project has been funded by 50% grant by the Low Carbon Buildings Programme (Phase 2), with top-up funding obtained via a charity bank loan.
The overall system cost was around £50,000, and the system will generate about 8600kWh per annum – potentially significantly more, as the roof is an ideal 30 degree slope facing almost perfectly due South. Carbon savings are likely to be in the order of 4.8 tonnes per annum.
The hall was recently rebuilt to replace an ageing inefficient building, and is now highly insulated and timber-framed, and the addition of a PV array to the roof will assist in driving down electricity bills for decades to come, as well as providing an exemplar for community renewables on a focal point for the local area.
