King Alfred School
Completed: November 2009
King Alfred School recently had a 3.4 kWp solar PV array fitted to a curved standing seam roof. The system is very low profile and lies on the roof hardly noticed from ground level. As well as the anticipated yield of over 2700 kWh per annum (saving 1.5 tonnes of carbon dioxide every year), the system is linked to a Fronius datalogger web, giving it it's own web page and making data accessible to anyone who needs to use it for study purposes. The system was funded partly via the Low Carbon Building Programme Phase 2, and by a mixture of the schools' own funds and local authority top-up grants.
