First established in 1994 to specialise in solar heating systems, Solarsense has now installed well in excess of a thousand such systems, including some of the largest in the UK at the Iona Community in Scotland and Sidcot Quaker School, Somerset.
In 2000, Solarsense expanded to become a limited company and furthered their expertise in photovoltaic solar electric. The company installed the very first PV system under the Energy Saving Trusts’ 50% grant scheme.
Now the leading PV installer in the South West and one of the only UK companies to install dual solar thermal and PV systems, Solarsense is a government-registered installer of both solar thermal and PV systems under the Energy Saving Trust grant scheme – now extended until at least 2008.
The grant, combined with increasing public awareness of global warming and spiralling fuel costs, leads us to believe that our team of specialist environmental engineers will continue to expand over coming months. Increasingly, we see the integration of our solar systems with other renewable energy technologies e.g. heat pumps, and our involvement from the outset in the design of low (or zero) carbon & energy homes and other buildings.
To encourage worldwide use of renewable energy we are involved with training engineers from abroad and have our own charity projects in Uganda and India.
